Hall noticeboard-Wellbeing Wall

As we work towards our Amber flag, we have some beautiful Wellbeing displays on the hall noticeboards. Mr Donovan is working with the first classes to create a different indicator of SHANARRI every month.

SHANARRI stands for Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, Respected, Responsible and Included. These are all indicators for successful well-being. Each month, we will focus on a different indicator. In October we looked at Safety - Road and Fire Safety and Things That Make Me Happy

For November the First Classes all looked at different ways of staying healthy, including eating healthily, getting enough rest/sleep, examining what healthy looks like in school and at home, as well as (importantly) how to wash their hands correctly.

Well done to all of the First Class children who worked so hard to design our beautiful display boards.

Planting Spring Bulbs

Now that we have a beautiful flower mural, the Student Council got stuck into planting some real flowers in our new garden area. Its the time of year for planting Spring bulbs, so the children planted  daffodil bulbs, tulips bulbs and crocuses. We are going to watch them grow over the next few months and hopefully by Spring our garden will be in full bloom.

Wellness Wall Update

We have started working on our Art Project as part of our Amber Flag initiative. We picked a wall outside that is in need of a face lift.  We have decide to transform this wall into a wellness wall that will display positive mental health messages and all a small garden to the front where we hope to plant lots of insect friendly flowers.

The area to begin with was a drab brick wall that overlooks the senior infant classes.

Over the midterm break Pshemeck, our caretaker, started by painted it white. Already it was a huge improvement.

Mrs Heffernan then took some of the flower designs from the second class entries and created a mural, that she then painted on the wall. Check out the photos below to see the wall transform into a beautiful garden mural.

Amber Flag-Wellness Wall

As part of the Amber Flag initiative we are creating a Wellness Wall and Eco Garden where the children can come and relax and have mindful time when they need a break from the classroom. The 2nd class children were asked to come up with some ideas for the area.

Here are some of the fantastic entries that we hope to include over the next few months.

Be sure to keep an eye out over the next few weeks as we start to create our Wellness Wall
