Bumbleance

We were delighted to receive a card in the post from the lovely people at Bumbleance, The Children's Ambulance Service.  They were thrilled with our contribution of €718. This money will go to help those families who use this vital service, that we are so lucky to have in our country.

Welcome Back!

A big welcome back to all the families returning after the summer break. We hope you enjoyed the holidays and are well rested for a new school term. We are delighted to welcome all our new Junior Infants. They all look so happy and eager to learn. We hope you all have a great first week. Remember the Junior Infants will continue to go home at 11.30am until Friday 15th September and then will commence their first full day (1.40pm) on Monday 18th September.

We have a lot of new teachers joining our staff this year. In Junior Infants we have Mr Gallagher (Rm 11), in Senior Infants we have Ms O Regan (Rm 5), in First Class we have Mr Delaney (Rm 8) and Ms Mannion (Rm 10) and finally in Second Class we have Mr Goldrick (Rm 2) and Mr Breen (Rm 4). We also have a new Special Education teacher, Ms Moore. They have all settled in very well. As well as all the new teachers, we are also please to welcome to the staff our new school caretaker, Pshemeck. Feel free to say hello and introduce yourself to him if you see him around.

Remember, if you have changed your contact details over the summer, could you please inform Jennifer, the school secretary, so she can update your child's file. Thank You.

Summer Holidays

SCHOOL CLOSES AT 12pm FRIDAY 30TH JUNE

Have a happy, healthy and safe Summer everyone.

School reopens Friday 1st September

Brendan retires-June 2017

It's with a very heavy heart that we are saying goodbye to our dear friend Brendan, who is retiring after 17 years of service as caretaker of SS Peter and Paul JNS. Brendan has seen so many members of staff come and go through the years and has always made them feel so welcome. His happy & cheerful manner has greeted hundreds of children though the gates of SS Peter & Paul. He will be sadly missed and hard to replace. We wish him every happiness in his retirement and hope that he pops over to see us once in a while.

On Wednesday we held a special concert in his honour to show how much we appreciate him. The children from each level performed either a song or a poem for him. We were blown away by their talent. They were all FANTASTIC. Poor Brendan was very emotional, as were we.

Happy Retirement Brendan

Bumbleance Visit

The school had a special visit on the 13th June from the BUMBLEance – the children’s national ambulance service. BUMBLEance is the world’s first interactive ambulance purposefully designed for children. It ensures that the journey of a sick child who needs ambulance transportation to and from a treatment centre and their home is as safe and comfortable as possible. Pupils had an opportunity on the morning to look around the BUMBLEance, ask questions and hear more about it’s important work. We held a fundraiser towards this worthy cause on the day.

The Daily Mile

The Daily Mile
Our school has fully embraced the Daily Mile movement over the past few weeks! Many thanks to Ms. Kelly for bringing the initiative to the attention of staff. The children walk, jog or run with their classmates each day. Everyone has fun taking part- it is not P.E and it is not competitive- while building relationships, confidence and resilience. This can be summed up in the Five F’s of the movement-
· Fitness- children become more aware of a healthy lifestyle
· Fresh Air- children thrive on the sights, sounds and seasons
· Friends- children use the language of friendship to support each other
· Fun- children enjoy taking part- this is what makes The Daily Mile so successful
· Focus- daily physical activity helps children concentrate in the classroom and is proven to raise attainment.

Junior Infant Induction Day

We welcomed our incoming Junior Infants for September on Thursday, 25th at 9.30am for their Induction morning. It was lovely to see all their happy excited faces seeing their new classes for the first time. Unfortunately the new class teachers for rooms 11 and 13 have not yet been allocated but we hope they still enjoyed their day. We will see you all back here on the first day of September.

Enjoy your summer!!

First Holy Communion

First Holy Communion
We would like to wish our four 2nd classes a wonderful day of celebration on Saturday
as the pupils receive their First Holy Communion. We hope they enjoy the morning and their special day with their family and friends. Saturday will be the culmination of months of preparation by pupils, teachers and their parents. A huge amount of effort goes into the two Communion masses. Special thanks in advance go to the four class teachers- Ms. Ní Mhaonaigh, Ms. Feeney, Mrs. O’ Neill and Mrs. Cummins for all their hard work with their classes.
10am mass- Mrs. Cummins and Ms. Feeney

12pm mass- Mrs. O’Neill and Ms. Ní Mhaonaigh

Thanks also go to Ms. O’Brien, Mr. Donovan and Ms. Feeney and the school choir for all their efforts and practice so far this year. Our choir and music from Mr. Donovan, Ms. Ní Mhaonigh and Ms. Feeney add so much to the masses on the day and make them even more special.
