Painting Summer Windows

The good weather has put us in a great summer mood and we look forward to holidays, picnics and fun at the beach. We are so lucky to be beside the seaside here in Balbriggan and we love nothing more than popping down to build sandcastles and dipping our toes in the water.
The Student Council brought a bit of Balbriggan beach to our school by painting our hall windows to make a seaside scene. We thought of some fun characters to include in our paintings so we added Olaf (melting), Peppa and George Pig and Baby Shark. They all are enjoying spending time at the beach too.
Now let's keep that sun shining for as long as possible!! ☀

Hall Noticeboards-Respect

This month the Second Class children were dealing with the SHANARRI well-being indicator 'Respect'

The classes looked at what respect means, what it looks like, what it sounds like and how they can show it at home and at school.

They took the time to look at a PowerPoint about respect and discussed many ways to show respect. They also discussed how they felt when they were respected themselves, both by their peers and by the important adults in their lives.

Planting Wildflowers

SS Peter and Paul JNS is located in the middle of  Balbriggan town, so we don't have many opportunities to see wildflowers growing in fields or explore flora or fauna life around us. Therefore we thought it would be a good idea to create a Bio-diversity space in school where the children could watch wildflowers grow and hopefully see lots of insect life, such as bees and butterflies, around this area.

Hence the Student Council have planted "seed bombs" in our Bio-diversity space. These small balls of soil contain lots of little seeds such as Corn Marigold, Red Clover, Yellow Rattle and Ragged Robin. We can't wait to see them start to peep up over the ground over the next few weeks and we will then investigate all the different flower and insect species in class.

We have new Student Council members for our last term. These members will represent their classes for the months of May and June.

From Second Class we have Zoe and Mason in Room 6.

Our Student Council representatives in First Class are Keeva and Parker from Room 10.

In Senior Infants. Ciarán and Ella-Rose were chosen from Room 17

And finally in Junior Infants Antoni and Mia from Room 14.

We have been blessed with our wonderful Student Council this year. They have played a major role in helping our school being the fun, happy, friendly place it is. Thank you so much for all your hard work with Mrs Heffernan.

Creative Week-Friday Round Up

Well done to Ms. O'Regan's 1st Class who performed a beautiful Lámh signed version of 'Under the Sea' at our official mural launch. Ms. O' Regan shared her Lámh knowledge with the whole school and each class learned the signs. The whole school performed the song together out on yard. Thanks to Pshemeck our daring caretaker who took some brilliant footage from the roof!

We enjoyed a such a positive, colourful & action packed Creative Week this year. Well done to all of our wonderful pupils & staff for their enthusiasm. Here is a round-up video from the week from our roving reporters Pilar & Noah. We are looking forward to next year already!

World Book Dress-Up Day

SS Peter and Paul’s World Book Day 2021

The official World Book Day was on Thursday 4 th March this year, but as parents, teachers and pupils

all had rather a lot on our plates settling back to the school routines at that point, we decided to

wait until our Creative Week this month to celebrate our love of books.

And what a celebration it was! The children looked fantastic in their wonderful costumes, and got to

show their classmates their favourite books from home as the whole school settled into Drop

Everything And Read! Set against the backdrop of our stunning school self-portraits in every class,

not to mention our fabulous new mural on the back wall, our school was alive with books,

imagination, and creativity! A most colourful day indeed!
