Hall notice boards
We have 4 beautiful new displays over in our school hall for you all to admire.
The junior infant board has been decorated by Ms O Brien's class. They made lovely rainy day pictures.
Ms Keane's class have been reading the story "The Owl Babies" and made beautiful owl pictures using printing. They can be seen on the senior infant board.
First class are getting ready for the cold winter weather so Ms Harrington's class decorated their board with wrapped up penguins!
And finally the second class board has been decorated by Ms O Hora's class. They made Calaveras-colourful masks as they have been learning all about Day of the Dead, or Dia de Los Muertos.

Science Fortnight
Our very popular Science Fortnight took place from the 10th -21st November. There were a number of science competitions held throughout the school from guessing the pumpkin weight to paper airplane construction.
The winners were:
1st and 2nd classes enjoyed science stations in the hall where they explored amongst other things magnets, thumb prints, floating & sinking and identifying fruit and vegetables. A big hit was the "Yawning Table" where the pupils explored whether yawning is contagious-the general consensus being that yes indeed it is!
Thanks to Mrs Bouzzah who oversaw our Science Fortnight with her usual enthusiasm and excitement.
The winners were:
- Erin Kennedy (1st class) correctly idenitified all the fruit & vegetable seeds
- Alex Jackson, Nathan Phoenix & Calum O Neill constructed the most successful paper airplanes in 2nd class.
- Roy Eze, Sam Jackson & Hannah Sheridan were the successful aiplane engineers from 1st Class
- Isabella Danila, Edie Murphy & David Byrne sourced the largest potatoes in the entire school.
- 23 pupils correctly guessed the pumpkin weight as 3kgs.

Science Week 10th - 14th November
The school has been buzzing with science experiments this week to mark the annual National Science Week. Mrs Bouzzah, our science coordinator has set up an array of activities to get the children's scientific brains working.
Next week the fun will continue in the hall when the exhibition tables are set up. The children can examine finger prints, catch the lights with prisms, move clips with magnets and much more.
Why not look out for some interesting programmes about science on tv or borrow science books from the library.
Heaviest Potato Competition:
The first and second classes were asked to bring in the biggest potato they could find at home. It will then be weighed in school and the winner of the heaviest potato will be announced on Friday.
Design and Make a Paper Aeroplane
The children are designing paper planes. Mrs Bouzzah will test each groups paper planes in the hall to see which will fly the farthest. Please us an A4 sheet and don't use staples or tape.
Guess the weight
Left over from Halloween, the children will be guessing the weight of a pumpkin. They will be using a 1kg to help them guess the correct weight.
Examine the seeds
Mrs Bouzzah has been busy collecting lots of seeds over the last few weeks. The children will try and guess which seeds are from which fruits.Next week the fun will continue in the hall when the exhibition tables are set up. The children can examine finger prints, catch the lights with prisms, move clips with magnets and much more.
